1960s French necklace of black glass beads, and black and clear Lucite oblong drops, with goldtone metal findings. From the atelier runway collection of Madame Gres. Not marked but well documented. Germaine Emilie Krebs (1903-1993), known as Alix Barton and later as Madame Gres, launched her design house in Paris in 1942. She produced haute couture designs for many fashionable women, including Greta Garbo and Jacqueline Kennedy. She was the subject of a recent exhibition (and companion book) at the Museum at Fashion Institute of Technology.
