Gorgeous large antique Victorian finely detailed necklace with reeded chain with matching detachable locket, both in Etruscan revival style with wirework and granulation, circa 1870. Very heavily rolled/plated gold. A jeweler's X-ray analysis reveals other metals besides gold, but the plating is very heavy. The chain has a spring ring clasp. Excellent condition. There are about six small indentations from use on the back, pictured, and one edge of the back is very slightly depressed, also pictured. These small imperfections do not show from the front when the piece is worn. Display form is life size. Photos enlarged to show detail.
